The THEMIS project brings a new dimension to environmental education by incorporating interactive games and challenge boxes. Students are actively involved in the learning process, making education more engaging and effective. In an era where environmental issues take center stage, fostering environmental intelligence among the younger generation is crucial. The THEMIS project, an innovative initiative, sets out to achieve just that by developing the environmental awareness of secondary school students. The project, executed by a dedicated consortium, has recently marked a significant milestone in Türkiye, where 10 challenge boxes were piloted in three schools, impacting 215 students in Zonguldak and İzmir.
Article 2 Piloting Turkey
One of the highlights of the THEMIS project is the development of educational games on four distinct environmental themes. These games are carefully designed to make learning enjoyable and effective, providing students with a hands-on approach to understanding complex environmental concepts. The themes encompass various aspects of environmental science, including biodiversity, climate change, pollution, and sustainable living. The THEMIS project reached a crucial phase with the piloting of 10 challenge boxes in three schools in Zonguldak and İzmir, Türkiye. These challenge boxes serve as interactive learning modules, each addressing specific environmental themes. The pilot involved 215 students who actively participated in the challenges, gaining practical insights into environmental issues and solutions.
