PR1 - Smart & Green teachers

Building a sustainable world means teaching and learning of the fact that love of nature must be at the heart of all our decisions, as individuals and as a society. It is necessary to act from school, developing ecological intelligence at the same time as the others (mathematical, linguistic, musical, kinaesthetic, etc.) and seeking a balance between them. Already in 1997, the report “Environmental education in the European Union” pointed out the urgent need to train teachers and educators for the correct application of environmental education in line with the EU’s environmental action programmes.

This PR consists of a training programme designed to cover the deficits of teachers in the pedagogy of environmental education. The ultimate aim of this training is to enable secondary school teachers
to develop skills and attitudes of respect for the environment and sustainable lifestyles in their students. To achieve this, the consortium will develop this training programme based on the approach and concept of Ecological Intelligence, proposed by Daniel Goleman.
